- Do I need to rake my frame?
Yes, it’s just like installing a 23” front wheel. However, using our patented “Rake Neck Block” makes easy work out of adding 7 degrees of rake to your frame. - Can I choose another company’s wheel style? Of course!
Simply have your wheel company contact Bagger Nation to acquire a 20” wheel blank. - Will my front end seem heavy?
Absolutely not! Using our patented Rake Neck Block and SRT raked tree kit will keep your trail at 6.5 positive inches. Just like stock for perfect handling characteristics. - What about other companies “Bolt-On” tree kits that don’t require raking my frame? Will they work?
Yes, on 2013 and earlier models using our slider covers. However, you're only adding 6 degrees of rake with those kits as opposed to our kit which is 14 degrees of rake. That makes about a 3.5” difference in axle / wheelbase extension. So, in our opinion your bike will one, look like it ran into a wall… Two, not have the aesthetic look you want which is why you decided to do this in the first place! But here’s the most important part that the “Bolt-On” tree guys won’t tell you… With a bolt-on tree kit you will lose 2” of fairing to fender clearance which is vital for full fork / suspension travel and you have to increase your fork preload with spacers to aid in preventing your fairing from smashing into your fender which in turn stiffens your normal suspension ride dramatically!
If that wasn’t bad enough, they’ll also have you install internal fork travel limiters which prevent your forks from being able to travel full distance which basically means, every time you hit a bump your front fork will bottom out! Now you know why we do things the right way without shortcuts… They are never free! If there was a way, (without tradeoff’s or sacrifices) to put a 23” wheel on your bike without having to add rake to your frame we would do it! The simple fact is the ONLY way to correctly rake your bagger for a 23” wheel is to add 7 degrees of rake to the frame and then correct the trail to a perfect 6.5” of positive trail by adding a set of 7 degree triple trees! TRUTH! - What about the companies that offer their exclusive double neck style no-cut rake kits?
First, ask them what their final trail numbers are? Then take a look at a bike with their kit installed. It doesn’t look like ours does it? That’s because their kits have to make room for their “double-neck” system and the only way to do that is by pushing your trees out over two full inches and up an inch and a half too! This not only looks ridiculous and completely cosmetically separates your front fork from the rest of your bike, but it also pushes your hands to handlebar reach over two full inches forward! Now your bike isn’t comfortable anymore! See, no such thing as a free shortcut!
